How to Tie the ABC Leech

  1. 1

    Step 1

Thread base. Start your thread with Semperfli Nano Silk just behind the bead, building a smooth base toward the hook bend.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Underbody. Form the underbody using a sparse amount of Wapsi SLF Kaufmann Dubbing to add subtle color and texture beneath the leech body.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Leech body. Tie in the Semperfli ABC Leech Body at the bend, wrapping it forward with overlapping turns to create a slim, natural profile.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Collar. Add movement by dubbing a collar of MFC Arizona Simi Seal Mega Dub right behind the bead — this adds bulk and shimmer.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Wing/top. Top it off with a soft plume of Wapsi CDC in Ginger for realistic movement in the water.

  6. 6

    Step 6

Finish. Whip finish and cement the head for durability.

Fish on a floating or intermediate line with a slow hand-twist or short strip retrieve to imitate a swimming leech. The red Semperfli body adds a subtle trigger color.
