Andino Bugger
Cheech ties this scaled-down take on the Andino Deceiver, a large fly made for big predators, as a streamer for trout water. It keeps the movement and profile of the bigger design in a fly that casts easily on a standard trout rod. Lead eyes, a brown marabou tail, a UV Polar Chenille body and a stacked deer hair collar make up the fly. It is versatile enough to strip along banks, fish through deep runs or swing across riffles. Tied here on a size 2 hook.

How to Tie the Andino Bugger
- 1
Step 1
Start the thread behind the hook eye, trim the tag and lay a firm base along the shank.
- 2
Step 2
Lash the lead eyes on top of the shank near the front of the hook and add a drop of glue to the wraps.
- 3
Step 3
Take the thread back to the bend. Tie in a bunch of brown marabou with the tips pointing back and bind the butts along the shank.
- 4
Step 4
Add a second bunch of marabou on top of the first to fill out the tail.
- 5
Step 5
Tie in the UV Polar Chenille at the base of the tail and bring the thread forward to the eyes.
- 6
Step 6
Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the eyes, stroking the fibers back with each turn. Tie it off and trim the excess.
- 7
Step 7
Turn the fly hook point up in the vise. Cut a bunch of deer hair from the patch and even the tips in a hair stacker.
- 8
Step 8
Tie the bunch in just behind the eyes with the tips sweeping back over the body, letting the hair flare.
- 9
Step 9
Cut and stack a second bunch, then tie it in at the same spot to build up the collar.
- 10
Step 10
Pack the hair back from the eyes with a hair packer.
- 11
Step 11
Turn the fly back over. Dub a little Bruiser Blend Junior onto the thread and wrap it around the eyes to cover the wraps, on the side away from the deer hair.
- 12
Step 12
Whip finish, trim any stray fibers and add a drop of glue to the head.
