ASB Smacker is a jig nymph from Cheech that brings anti-static bag, a body material popular with stillwater anglers, onto rivers. The strip adds flash to the body without being overbearing. Spanish Coq de Leon forms the tail, March Brown wire ribs the body, and thin UV resin seals the fly. The pattern can be tied in various color combinations and fished on a Euro rig. Tied here on a size 16 hook.

Start the red thread behind the bead and wrap a thread base back to the bend. Trim the tag end.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Tie in a small bunch of Coq de Leon fibers at the bend for the tail. Bind the butts along the shank and trim any excess.

Wrap the strip forward up the shank to form the body. Tie it off behind the bead and trim the excess.

  7. 7

    Step 7

Spiral the wire forward over the body in open turns. Tie it off and trim it.

  8. 8

    Step 8

Leave a band of red thread behind the bead, whip finish, and trim the thread.

  9. 9

    Step 9

Use the black paint marker to color a patch on the side of the bead opposite the hook point, leaving the rest of the bead pink.

  10. 10

    Step 10

Coat the body and the painted part of the bead with thin UV resin and cure it with a UV light.
