How to Tie the Banana Caddis

   Step 1

   Slide the 7/64 Metallic Brown tungsten bead onto the Tiemco TMC 2457 BL hook and secure it in the vise. Start the Semperfli Nano Silk 100D (Brown) behind the bead and wrap a thread base down to the hook bend.

   The curved hook gives the fly a natural caddis larva profile.

   Step 2

   Tie in the Fulling Mill Nymph Wrap 2mm (Waxworm Yellow) at the bend of the hook. Secure it with thread wraps along the shank.

   Step 3

   Wrap the nymph wrap forward in smooth, even turns to create the bright yellow body. Stop about 1/3 of the shank behind the bead. Tie off and trim the excess.

   Keep wraps tight and slightly overlapping for a smooth, segmented body.

   Step 4

   Apply a small amount of Fulling Mill Euro Thorax Dubbing (Light Mottled) to the thread. Dub a compact, buggy thorax just behind the bead, filling the gap between the body and bead.

   Use a dubbing loop for a more textured thorax if desired.

   Step 5

   Whip finish behind the bead and trim the thread. Apply a thin coat of UV resin or head cement over the body for durability and a slight sheen.
