How to Tie the CDC Jig Nymph

   Step 1

   Place a slotted tungsten bead on the jig hook and secure in the vise with the slot on the hook's underside.

   Step 2

   Attach thread behind the bead and wind back toward the bend to create a smooth base.

   Step 3

   Tie in a small tag of red holographic tinsel at the bend for a trigger point.

   Step 4

   Tie in 3-5 Coq de León fibers at the hook bend for a tail about the length of the body.

   Step 5

   Secure neon silver wire at the tail for ribbing.

   Step 6

   Tie in several pheasant tail fibers and wind forward to form a slim body, stopping short of the bead. Tie off.

   Keep the body slim and even—the CDC collar provides the bulk.

   Step 7

   Counter-wrap the wire rib in open spirals up the body to the bead. Tie off and helicopter the excess.

   Step 8

   Take a CDC feather and tie in by the tip behind the bead. Make 1-3 turns to form a soft hackle collar. Secure and trim excess.

   The CDC collar pulses and traps air bubbles—don't over-wrap or trim too aggressively.

   Step 9

   Dub a small amount of emerald green Ice Dub behind the bead for a hotspot head.

    Step 10

    Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of head cement or UV resin for durability.
