How to Tie the Chironomid Bomber

   Step 1

   Secure the hook in the vise and slide on the tungsten bead. Start the black thread just behind the bead.

   Step 2

   Tie in a short length (about 3mm) of white Glo-Brite Floss at the hook eye for gills/breathers. Trim to length.

   Keep the gills short and neat to avoid crowding the eye.

   Step 3

   Wind the thread smoothly down to the hook bend, creating an even thread base.

   Step 4

   At the bend, tie in the gold wire ribbing and the holographic cranberry tinsel.

   Step 5

   Tie in a strip of anti-static bag material at the tail and wrap forward in touching turns to form a thick, tapered body. Secure and trim excess.

   Keep wraps tight and slightly overlapping for a smooth, translucent body.

   Step 6

   Counter-wrap the gold wire evenly up the body in 5-7 turns, then spiral the holographic tinsel in the same direction. Secure both at the thorax.

   Step 7

   Apply a thin, even coat of Loon UV resin over the entire body and cure with a UV light.

   Add a tiny drop of fluorescent orange UV resin behind the bead for wing buds. Cure with UV light.

   Step 9

   Add a small drop of black UV resin on top for the wing case. Cure with UV light.

    Step 10

    Build a small, neat black thread head behind the bead, whip finish, and cut thread.
