Tan or brown foam sheet 2mm, folded

Body

Tan or brown dubbing

Legs

Round rubber legs, barred tan or brown

Hi-vis poly yarn, orange or pink

Overwing

Tan or brown foam, folded over

How to Tie the Chubby Chernobyl

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Cut a strip of 2mm foam about twice the hook gap in width and 2 inches long.

    Step 2

    Secure the hook in the vise. Tie in the foam strip at the bend, extending rearward.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Dub a section of body. Fold the foam forward over the dubbing and tie it down to form a segment.

    Step 4

    Tie in two rubber legs on each side, extending outward.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Tie in a piece of hi-vis poly yarn on top as a wing/indicator post.

    Step 6

    Dub another body segment. Fold foam over and tie down again.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Add another pair of rubber legs on each side.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Dub the front section. Fold foam over one final time and tie it down behind the eye.

    Step 9

    Trim the foam tag. Trim the poly yarn indicator post to desired length.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Whip finish and apply a drop of super glue to each foam tie-down point.
