How to Tie the Circus Peanut

   Step 1

   Build the rear section: mount rear hook and tie in two marabou plumes as a long tail at the bend with Flashabou.

   Use two marabou plumes for a fuller, more mobile tail.

   Step 2

   Palmer additional marabou or wrap Cactus Chenille forward on the rear shank to build the rear body.

   Step 3

   Create the articulation: connect rear and front hooks using Beadalon wire or an articulated shank with a bead spacer.

   Step 4

   Mount front hook in vise. Secure the articulation connection. Tie in marabou and flash at the junction.

   The junction materials help the two sections blend seamlessly.

   Step 5

   Cut a cylinder of closed-cell foam and thread it onto the front hook shank. Secure with thread wraps at the front and rear.

   Pre-shape the foam with scissors before mounting for easier trimming.

   Step 6

   Trim the foam head into a rounded or bullet shape. Add adhesive eyes to the sides if desired.

   Add additional marabou or flash around the foam head as a collar for extra movement.

   Whip finish behind the hook eye and seal all thread wraps with head cement or UV resin.
