Materials
3XL streamer hook (TMC 5263), sizes 2-8
Brass or tungsten conehead, sized to match hook
Black 6/0 (140 denier)
Lead or non-lead wire wraps behind conehead
Rabbit zonker strip, black or olive, 3-4 inches long
Krystal Flash or Flashabou, 4-6 strands along sides
Rabbit fur dubbed or spun around shank behind conehead
How to Tie the Conehead Bunny Leech

Step 1
Slide conehead onto hook and mount in vise. Start thread behind conehead and build a thread dam.
Use a conehead that fits snugly over the hook eye.

Step 2
Wrap 8-12 turns of lead wire behind the conehead and secure with thread.
Adjust weight based on target water depth.

Step 3
Advance thread to hook bend. Cut a rabbit strip about 2.5x shank length and tie in at the bend, hide side down.
Make sure the fur fibers sweep rearward for proper action.

Tie in 4-6 strands of Krystal Flash along each side at the tail tie-in point.

Step 5
Pull the rabbit strip forward over the shank and make 2-3 securing wraps at even intervals along the body.
Use a bodkin to poke through the hide for wrap points — this keeps the strip on top.

Step 6
Secure the strip behind the conehead and trim excess.

Dub a small collar of rabbit fur behind the conehead to fill any gaps.

Whip finish behind the conehead and apply head cement to the thread wraps.
