Creamsicle Jig
Cheech ties the Creamsicle Jig as a gold-toned jig streamer on the TMC 708 hook, which he rates highly for flies tied jig style. Two colors of marabou make the tail and gold tinsel chenille forms the body, so the tie stays simple until the head. There a complex twist of polar chenille and hen hackle gives a more durable collar. Fish it stripped on a regular streamer rod, or dead-drift it on a tight line with a euro rod. Tied here on a size 6 hook.

How to Tie the Creamsicle Jig
- 1
Step 1
Slide the slotted bead onto the hook, seat it at the eye and set the hook in the vise.
- 2
Step 2
Wrap a short section of .020 lead wire on the shank behind the bead and push it up against the bead.
- 3
Step 3
Start the thread behind the lead, cover the wraps and carry the thread back to the rear of the straight part of the shank.
- 4
Step 4
Tie in a clump of Burnished Golden Tan marabou on top of the shank for the first part of the tail. Bind down the butts and trim any excess.
- 5
Step 5
Tie in a clump of Creamsicle Orange marabou at the same point for the second part of the tail. Bind down the butts and trim any excess.
- 6
Step 6
Tie in the gold tinsel chenille at the base of the tail and wrap it forward over the rear of the shank, leaving room behind the bead. Tie it off and trim the excess.
- 7
Step 7
At the front of the body, tie in the gold UV Polar Chenille and a medium ginger hen saddle feather.
- 8
Step 8
Form a thread loop at the same point and bring the tying thread forward to the bead.
- 9
Step 9
Gather the loop, chenille and feather together in a dubbing spinner and twist them into one rope.
- 10
Step 10
Wrap the rope forward to the bead, stroking the fibers back as you go. Tie it off and trim the excess.
Twisting the chenille and feather with the thread loop makes the head more durable.
- 11
Step 11
Whip finish behind the bead and cut the thread. Pick out any trapped fibers.
