How to Tie the Curtis Fry Minnow
- 1
Step 1
Secure the streamer hook in the vise. Start the white thread and wrap a base from behind the eye to the bend.
- 2
Step 2
Select a Chickabou or soft hackle feather. Tie it in at the bend as a tail, extending about 1.5x the hook shank length for swimming action.
- 3
Step 3
Cut a generous bunch of Mirage Opal Polar Flash. Tie it in at the bend and distribute it evenly around the hook shank, extending rearward alongside the tail.
The Polar Flash forms the foundation of the baitfish body—distribute it evenly for a symmetrical profile.
- 4
Step 4
Fold the Polar Flash forward over the shank, tie down near the eye to create the body shape. Apply olive UV resin along one side and cure. Apply to the other side and cure.
- 5
Step 5
Stick the 3D holographic eyes on each side of the head. Add a small accent of hot pink UV resin near the gill area. Apply clear UV resin over the entire body for a smooth, hard finish. Cure thoroughly.
- 6
Step 6
Apply a final top coat of Solarez Bone Dry for a glass-like finish. Whip finish behind the eye. Trim the tail materials to the desired profile shape.
