Double Bubble Egg
The Double Bubble Egg from Fly Fish Food is one of the simplest and most productive egg patterns for trout fishing. Using Micro Flexi Squishenille to create two small 'bubbles' on a jig hook, this pattern has a soft, realistic profile that trout find irresistible. It's a perfect beginner pattern that can be tied in minutes and fished year-round.

How to Tie the Double Bubble Egg
- 1
Step 1
Place the slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and secure in the vise.
- 2
Step 2
Start the fluorescent orange thread behind the bead and wrap a small thread base.
- 3
Step 3
Tie in a short length of Micro Flexi Squishenille behind the bead.
Squishenille is soft and stretchy — handle it gently to avoid tearing.
- 4
Step 4
Form the first 'bubble' by wrapping the squishenille into a small ball directly behind the bead. Secure with thread wraps.
- 5
Step 5
Leave a small gap of exposed thread, then form the second 'bubble' at the rear of the hook by wrapping another ball of squishenille. Secure with thread wraps.
- 6
Step 6
Whip finish between the two bubbles or behind the rear bubble, trim excess material, and apply a tiny drop of head cement.
