Extra Super Jig
Extra Super Jig is a jig style nymph that Cheech came up with after growing tired of trying to make colored resin behave. A tag of fire orange thread gives the hot spot instead. The thin, flashy tail is black Krystal Flash, the body is old gold Micro Glint Nymph Tinsel, and gray squirrel dubbing makes a very sparse collar. The aim is a nymph that gets down well and still moves well in front of the fish. Change the colors as needed. Tied here on a size 16 hook.

How to Tie the Extra Super Jig
- 1
Step 1
Slide the gold bead onto the jig hook and mount the hook in the vise.
- 2
Step 2
Start the black thread behind the bead and wrap back to the bend.
- 3
Step 3
Tie in black Krystal Flash at the bend for a thin tail. Trim it to length.
- 4
Step 4
Tie in the Micro Glint Nymph Tinsel at the bend and bring the thread forward.
- 5
Step 5
Wrap the tinsel forward in open turns, so black thread shows between them, to form the body. Tie it off behind the bead and trim the waste.
- 6
Step 6
Coat the body with UV resin and cure it with a UV light.
- 7
Step 7
Secure a short piece of fire orange thread on top of the shank just behind the bead with the black thread, leaving two tags standing out.
- 8
Step 8
Trim the tags short to make the hot spot.
Using a tag of thread gets a hot spot without working colored resin into shape.
- 9
Step 9
Dub a thin strand of gray squirrel dubbing onto the black thread.
- 10
Step 10
Wrap a very sparse collar behind the bead.
- 11
Step 11
Whip finish behind the bead and cut the thread.
- 12
Step 12
Brush the collar lightly to free the fibers.
