Materials
Fulling Mill Czech Nymph hook, barbless, size 16-24
Danville Flat Waxed Nylon, 70 denier, black
Easy Magic Dub, dyed black (or Zelon/Antron)
Ice Dub, black UV
Holographic tinsel, red (optional)
Black Ethafoam, small strip
How to Tie the Foamerger

Step 1
Secure the hook in the vise and start the black thread at the midpoint of the shank. Wrap back to the bend.

Step 2
Tease out a small pinch of black Easy Magic Dub or Antron fibers. Tie in as a trailing shuck at the hook bend, keeping it sparse and short.
The trailing shuck imitates the nymphal skin being shed during emergence.

Step 3
Dub a slim body of black UV Ice Dub from the bend forward to the thorax area, leaving room for the foam head.

Step 4
Optionally, tie in a short piece of red holographic tinsel on each side as wing buds for added flash.

Step 5
Cut a small strip of black Ethafoam. Tie it in at the thorax, fold it over to form a small, rounded foam head that provides buoyancy. Secure with multiple tight thread wraps.

Step 6
Whip finish behind the foam head. The fly should hang vertically in the surface film with the foam head on top and the body dangling below.
