How to Tie the Green Butt Skunk

   Step 1

   Secure the hook. Start thread at the bend.

   Step 2

   Tie in flat silver tinsel. Wrap 3-4 turns as a tag at the very end of the shank. Tie off.

   Step 3

   Wrap a small bump of fluorescent green floss for the butt, right in front of the silver tag.

   Step 4

   Tie in a sparse bunch of red hackle fibers as a tail.

   Step 5

   Tie in silver tinsel for the rib and black chenille for the body.

   Step 6

   Wrap the black chenille body forward to the 3/4 mark. Tie off.

   Step 7

   Wrap the silver tinsel rib forward through the body in even spirals. Tie off.

   Step 8

   Tie in a clump of white bucktail or calf tail as a wing on top, extending to the end of the tail.

   Step 9

   Tie in a black hen hackle and wrap 2-3 turns as a collar. Sweep fibers rearward.

    Step 10

    Build a neat head, whip finish, and apply head cement.
