How to Tie the Intruder - Pink/Orange

   Step 1

   Mount the articulated shank in the vise. Lay a thread base, then secure the trailer wire or braided line to form a loop off the rear of the shank. Attach the stinger hook to the trailing loop.

   Use a bead on the loop to keep the stinger hook in position and prevent it from sliding.

   Step 2

   If using weight, tie in dumbbell or bead chain eyes near the front of the shank on top. Secure with tight figure-eight wraps.

   Step 3

   At roughly one-quarter from the rear, create a dubbing loop with UV Ice Dub (orange or pink) and form a small prop ball. This will help flare the rear station materials.

   Step 4

   Tie in a clump of pink marabou or ostrich herl behind the prop ball, followed by 6-8 strands of orange/pink Flashabou. Sweep all materials rearward. Optionally add barred rubber legs.

   Step 5

   Tie in and wrap holographic tinsel or UV Polar Chenille up the shank to form the body, leaving room at the front for the front station.

   Step 6

   Create a second prop ball with UV Ice Dub (black or orange) at the front station position to flare the front materials.

   Step 7

   Tie in black ostrich herl or marabou at the front station, followed by pink/orange Flashabou. Sweep fibers rearward.

   Step 8

   Collar with black guinea or schlappen hackle—wrap 1-2 times and sweep fibers back. Add accent materials like peacock herl if desired.

   Step 9

   Whip finish the head and apply head cement. Ensure the stinger loop is aligned and the hook swings freely.

   Keep materials sparse for maximum movement. Intruders should be big and lively, not overdressed.
