Materials
3XL heavy nymph hook (TMC 5262), size 4-10
Lead or lead-free wire .025-.035, heavy wraps
Brown or tan 6/0 Monocord
Brown or amber goose biots, two, splayed
Brown or golden D-Rib or Vinyl Rib
Golden-brown Kaufmann blend dubbing (Angora goat and rabbit)
Mottled turkey tail slips, three segments
Golden-brown Kaufmann blend dubbing, picked out
Brown goose biots, splayed forward
Picked-out thorax dubbing or tan rubber legs
How to Tie the Kaufmann's Stone - Golden

Step 1
Secure the hook and wrap lead wire heavily along the shank, building up the thorax area. Start thread and lock down the wire.

Tie in two amber goose biots at the bend, splayed for the tail.

Step 3
Tie in a strip of golden D-Rib at the tail for ribbing.

Step 4
Dub a tapered abdomen with golden-brown Kaufmann blend, keeping it rough and shaggy.

Step 5
Wrap the D-Rib forward over the abdomen. Tie off at the midpoint.

Tie in the first mottled turkey tail wingcase slip.

Step 7
Dub the first thorax segment, pull the turkey slip over, and secure. Repeat for two more wingcase segments.

Tie in amber goose biots facing forward as antennae.

Step 9
Pick out thorax dubbing fibers for legs. Whip finish and cement all wingcase segments.
