How to Tie the Puglisi Spawning Shrimp

   Step 1

   Secure the hook and tie in brass dumbbell or bead chain eyes at the front of the shank with figure-8 wraps. Apply super glue for durability.

   Step 2

   Cover the hook shank with thread wraps from the eye to slightly down the bend.

   Step 3

   Dub a ball of hot-orange Ice Dub or Laser Yarn behind the eyes on the rear third of the shank to form the egg mass.

   The hot-orange egg sac is the key trigger on this pattern. Make it prominent but not overly large.

   Step 4

   Tie in 2-3 strands of black Krystal Flash as antennae and several barred rubber legs just in front of the egg mass.

   Step 5

   Optionally secure EP Mono Eyes to each side of the shank near the egg mass.

   Step 6

   Tie in the EP Shrimp Dub Brush at the bend.

   Step 7

   Palmer the brush forward toward the eyes, preening fibers rearward with each turn. Use open, widely-spaced wraps to preserve translucency.

   Less is more—sparse wraps create better translucency and more lifelike movement in the water.

   Step 8

   Brush out the body fibers and trim to a tapered shrimp profile.

   Step 9

   Whip finish behind the eyes and apply head cement. Optionally attach a double-mono weed guard.
