UTC Ultrathread 70 denier, purple
Moose body hair
Fulling Mill Flex-Floss (or Life-Flex Spandex Material), purple
Whiting Rooster Cape, brown, and Grizzly dyed purple
Fulling Mill Tactical Dry Fly Dub, Royal Purple
How to Tie the Purple Haze Hackle Stacker

Step 1
Place the hook in the vise and start the purple thread, wrapping a smooth base to the bend.

Select a small clump of moose body hair, clean and stack it, then tie it in at the bend as the tail, extending about one shank length beyond the bend.

Tie in the purple Flex-Floss at the tail and stretch-wrap it forward to form a smooth, segmented body to the thorax area.
Stretch the Flex-Floss as you wrap to create a thinner, more translucent body.

Form a loop with the body material at the thorax to create the hackle stacker support structure.

Prepare both the brown and grizzly purple hackle feathers, sizing them appropriately for the hook.

Tie in both hackle feathers at the thorax and wrap them together through the stacker loop, building a dense, supportive hackle collar.

Dub a small amount of Royal Purple dry fly dubbing around the thorax to fill any gaps and add color.

Whip finish behind the eye, trim excess hackle and materials, and apply head cement.
