How to Tie the Roly's Poly Leech

Step 1
Place the metallic red tungsten bead onto the jig hook and secure in the vise.

Start the twisted thread behind the bead and wrap a sturdy base to the bend.

Cut a length of Chewy Worm Chenille and tie it in at the bend as the tail. Apply moderate tension — this material tears easily.
The Chewy Worm tail is the key to this fly's action. Practice tension control to avoid cutting through it.

Create a dubbing noodle with the Ultra Nymph Dub and wrap the inner body layer forward, building a tapered profile.

Add a second dubbing layer using the Microflash Dub UV, wrapping it over the inner body for translucency and flash.

Build up a slightly bulkier thorax area near the bead with additional dubbing.

Whip finish behind the bead and apply head cement for durability.
