The Fly Fiend's signature nymph pattern with a slim crystal flash body, peacock Ice Dub thorax, and olive grizzly hen legs. This versatile attractor nymph works well as a dropper in summer rigs and imitates a range of small aquatic insects.

Materials
Firehole 718 or curved nymph hook, size 10-18
3mm gold tungsten bead
UTC 70 Denier, olive
Pheasant tail fibers, natural
Small olive or chartreuse Ultra Wire
Pearl lateral scale or 3 strands crystal flash
Strip of ziplock bag marked with black marker, or black shellback material
Peacock Ice Dub
Olive grizzly hen feather fibers
UV resin for shellback
How to Tie the Slim Grizzly Nymph

Step 1
Slide gold tungsten bead onto the hook and secure in the vise.

Step 2
Start olive thread behind the bead and wrap down to the bend.

Step 3
Tie in several natural pheasant tail fibers for the tail.
- 4
Step 4
Tie in small olive Ultra Wire for ribbing, then 3 strands of pearl crystal flash for the body.

Step 5
Wrap the crystal flash strands forward together to create a slim, tapered, flashy body. Rib with the wire in even turns. Tie off both.
Keep the body very slim — that's the 'slim' in Slim Grizzly.

Tie in the shellback material (marked ziplock or black scud back) at the thorax area.

Step 7
Dub a full thorax of Peacock Ice Dub behind the bead.

Step 8
Pull the shellback over the thorax and tie down behind the bead.

Step 9
Tie in olive grizzly hen fibers as legs on each side of the thorax. Whip finish and apply UV resin to the shellback.
