Hanak H 400 BL Jig Hook, size 16
Hanak Round+ Slotted Tungsten Bead, 3.0mm, silver
UTC Ultrathread 70 Denier, black
Spanish Coq de León or Whiting Coq de León, dark pardo
Sulky Holoshimmer Tinsel, cranberry
Solarez UV Cure Resin Bone Dry or Loon UV Clear Fly Finish Flow
How to Tie the Spanish Bullet

Step 1
Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and secure in the vise.

Start thread behind the bead and build a smooth, tapered thread base down to just before the hook bend.

Select 3-5 Coq de León fibers and tie them in as a short, sparse tail.

Tie in a strand of Sulky Holoshimmer cranberry tinsel along the shank for flash.

Step 5
Build the body by wrapping thread forward in smooth, touching turns to create a slim, tapered bullet shape up to the bead.
The taper is key—thinner at the rear, gradually thickening toward the bead.

Wrap the flash tinsel forward in an open spiral over the thread body for subtle shimmer. Secure behind the bead.

Whip finish and cut thread.

Cover the entire body with a thin layer of UV resin and cure with a UV light.
Apply resin in thin coats—rotate the fly to prevent pooling. Multiple thin coats are better than one thick coat.
