Squiggle Worm
Squiggle Worm is a soft plastic mini worm on a bead-head jig hook, put together with glue and no thread, which makes it the pattern to reach for when the spool runs out. Cheech jokes that it is not a fly at all, but he still rates it as an anchor fly on a Euro rig. There is no real tying involved: a slotted tungsten bead, a mini squiggle worm and a touch of Z-Ment are all it takes. Tied here on a size 12 hook.

How to Tie the Squiggle Worm
- 1
Step 1
Slide the dark pink slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, seat it at the eye and mount the hook in the vise.
- 2
Step 2
With the hook point clear of the vise jaws, push the point into one end of the red mini squiggle worm and thread it along inside the worm, around the bend and up the shank, until that end sits tight against the back of the bead. Bring the point out at the bend so the rest of the worm hangs free.
- 3
Step 3
Apply Z-Ment where the worm meets the hook and the back of the bead.
- 4
Step 4
Hold the worm still until the glue grabs.
- 5
Step 5
Check that the worm stays in place, then take the hook out of the vise.
