Vladi Worm
A legendary Euro nymph anchor fly designed by Polish angler Vladi Trzebunia. This heavy, worm-like pattern uses a translucent pink latex body over a weighted underbody to sink rapidly and attract fish in the toughest conditions. So effective it was reportedly banned in some competitions.

Materials
3XL or 4XL streamer hook, size 2-6, or heavy scud/keel hook
Lead wire (.020"-.030") or tungsten wire, heavily wrapped
Slotted tungsten bead 3.5-4mm for extra weight
Red or orange heavy thread for underbody; 6/0 or 10/0 for finishing
Strip of pink latex (UV Chewee Skin, Nymph Skin, or similar translucent material), ~3mm wide
2-5 lb monofilament or nylon thread
Super glue and/or UV resin for durability
How to Tie the Vladi Worm

Step 1
Bend the hook to form a gentle hump if not already a scud-style hook. This helps the fly invert and reduces snags.
The curve concentrates weight properly and helps the fly ride hook-point-up.

Step 2
Insert the optional tungsten bead. Wrap lead wire generously on the hump of the hook, focusing toward the mid-section for a quick sink.

Start thread near the hook eye and build up a smooth, tapered underbody covering the lead wraps. Use orange or red thread for color underneath the translucent body.

Tie in the monofilament rib at the rear of the fly, extending backward.

Cut a narrow strip (~3mm wide) of pink latex, Chewee Skin, or Nymph Skin. Tie it in at the rear over the lead.

Wrap the latex strip evenly forward in slightly overlapping turns, covering the body smoothly. Secure with thread near the hook eye.
Stretch the latex slightly while wrapping for a tight, translucent finish.

Counter-wrap the monofilament rib forward over the latex body for segmentation and strength. Secure and trim.

Whip finish and secure with super glue or a coat of UV resin for extra durability.
The latex body gives incredible bounce and snag resistance—excellent for rocky rivers.
