How to Tie the White Zonker

1. 1

   Step 1

   Mount hook in vise and wrap lead wire along the middle 2/3 of the shank. Secure with thread.

   Keep the lead wraps centered to maintain balance.

   Step 2

   Slide a section of Mylar tubing over the hook shank, tying it down at both the tail and head to form the body.

   Fray the rear Mylar ends slightly for a minnow tail effect.

   Step 3

   Cut a white rabbit zonker strip about 2x the shank length. At the bend, tie in the strip hide-side down.

   Ensure fur fibers flow rearward.

   Step 4

   Add 6-8 strands of pearl Krystal Flash along each side of the body.

   Step 5

   Pull the zonker strip forward over the top of the Mylar body. Tie down behind the hook eye.

   Keep the strip centered on top for a symmetrical silhouette.

   Step 6

   Tie in a few strands of red Krystal Flash or red hackle fibers as a throat/gill accent underneath.

   Step 7

   Apply adhesive eyes to the sides of the head if desired.

   Step 8

   Build a smooth thread head, whip finish, and coat with head cement or UV resin.
