How to Tie the Woolly Bugger - Olive

   Step 1

   Secure hook in vise, slide on bead if using. Start thread and wrap a base back to the bend.

   Step 2

   Optional: wrap 15-20 turns of lead-free wire on the shank for weight. Secure with thread.

   Step 3

   Tie in an olive marabou plume for the tail, approximately one shank length.

   Step 4

   Tie in gold wire for the rib and olive chenille for the body at the tail base.

   Step 5

   Tie in an olive saddle hackle feather at the tail base.

   Step 6

   Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to the bead. Tie off and trim.

   Step 7

   Palmer the hackle forward in 5-7 evenly spaced wraps. Tie off and trim.

   Step 8

   Counter-wrap the wire rib forward to lock down the hackle. Tie off.

9. 9

   Step 9

   Build a neat thread head, whip finish, and apply head cement.
