How to Tie the X-Caddis

    Step 1

    Secure hook. Start thread and wrap to bend.

    Step 2

    Tie in a sparse clump of amber Antron yarn as a trailing shuck.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Dub a tapered body of olive dubbing to the 2/3 mark.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Cut and stack a clump of deer hair. Tie it on as a tent wing over the body.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Trim the butts. No hackle is used — the fly sits in the film.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Dub a small thorax in front of the wing, whip finish, and cement.
